In these studies we come face to face with the prophet who could not speak. This is the very beginning of Ezekiel’s parables , given not by word, but in deed, as he sought to bear the message of God to His wayward people. Wrapped in mystery from the outset, the strange and marvellous matters he engaged in must have bewildered and astonished his contemporaries. Yet his message, stern and uncompromising set forth the divine requirements and the divine warning. In this first of his enacted parables as Ezekiel the Exemplar, we are introduced to the labours of one of the most spiritual of all God’s men, living in his mind within the Most Holy, but compelled by his calling to interact daily with a rebellious house who could not believe the meaning of his parable.
